Josiah has

strep throat. I took him to Urgent Care on Saturday and his throat looked horrible. The doctor put him on Zithromax. He still has a fever and isn't acting 100%, but he is better than he was. He still wants me to hold him ALL THE TIME. He wants to sleep with me as well. He wakes up in his crib and calls for his Mama. His fever is the worst at night, so of course I bring him to bed with us:) I am praying the rest of the crew doesn't get it. My entire family has a propensity for strep throat.

I weighed in and am down 1.6 pounds. I updated my weight loss blog. Can't say enough about how much I love the FIRM. I know, I know...I sound like a broken record.

I had an incident today where I really blew it. I mean, I totally sinned. I chose it, reveled in it (for the moment) and feel like crap now. It was against my children too which makes it even worse. I absolutely hate it when I discipline the children when I am angry. That is just sinful on my part. Disipline should never be done in anger. I said awful things and spanked them in anger, not because I was trying to train them in righteousness. Boy I hate it when I blow it like that.

I need to go. Josiah is on my lap. He will not leave me a lone for a flippin' minute! Trying to type this around him is driving me insane. Hopefully I can post tomorrow while he is in bed.

Good night, Good night,
until we meet again,
Adios, Au revoir, Auf Wiedersehen 'til then.
And though it's always sweet sorrow to part
You'll know you'll always remain in my heart.
Good night, sleep tight
and pleasant dreams to you.
Here's a wish and a prayer
That every dream comes true.
And now 'til we, meet again,
Adios, Dobranoc, Auf Wiedersehen.
Goodnight!!!

That song is from my favorite TV Show of all time. Do you know what it is?

EDIT: Jenn guessed correctly in the comment section! It's Lawrence Welk! I honestly love that show and want to go to Branson just to go to the Lawrence Welk theater there. I am a complete dork.

Josiah has a fever. No other sypmtoms. Just a fever. I feel sorry children when they have fevers. He is acting perfectly normal when he is on this, but when it wears off you can tell he doesn't feel well. Maybe it will be roseola or chicken pox. Only time will tell. If you will pray for him, I'd appreciate it.

The weekend is here. Caleb has a baseball game tomorrow morning. I met with his teacher today for our IEP meeting. He will be switching teachers next year. I LOVE his current teacher. She is awesome. But she is going back to school to get her Masters Degree. I really like his teacher that he will have next year too, so I'm happy.

Remember I had to go to the dentist yesterday? Well, I ended up needing a root canal. He got most of it complete but I need to go back to have him finish it up. Then May 26th I go in again for the crown appointment. Fun, fun, fun. Not to mention that I am paying over $700 OUT OF POCKET! I cried when I had to tell Olaf that I needed a root canal on top of the crown. I feel so horrible for having to spend that kind of money on a tooth. After this crown is done I won't go back to this dentist. I don't like his bedside manner at all.

Oh girlfriends! My metabolism is on the upswing. I think I lost another 2 pounds this week. I think the FIRM is finally starting to "kick in" and those muscles are revving my metabolism. WooHoo!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Lilacs in clay

My husband bought a lilac bush for me last year for Mother's Day. The owner of the nursery tried to discourage him. "Lilacs just don't grow in clay."  But Olaf knew lilacs are my very favorite flower, so he bought it anyway. We lovingly planted it last spring and by the fall, it was looking very dead. Olaf put compost all around it, cut it back to a single twig and we waited through winter. Now my glorious twig of a lilac bush has sprouted several flowers. When we lived in California and New York, there were the most gorgeous lilac bushes everywhere. The were huge and fragrant. I missed them. Until a few weeks ago...when my own lilacs bloomed. God's miracle just for me.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Holy Pontiff and other ponderings...

His official Latin title is Pontifex Maximus, originally the title of the chief of the ancient pre-Christian Roman high priests or "bridge-builders." Pope Benedict XVI has been elected as the new Pontiff of the Catholic Church. Let's all pray for the man!

Sorry I haven't blogged for awhile. Something always sweeps me away (namely four children and one husband) and I don't seem to get "back to what I was doing." I weighed in last night. I was pleased.

Olaf's cardiologist appointment is scheduled for May 5th? So please pray about that as well. I'm believing God! Which brings me to another topic...Believing God. I am doing the Beth Moore study online and it is really good! I finished watching the week three video and it has really hit home with me this week. The two points that have really stuck with me are:
1. Keep believing God for a miracle and
2. give Him every opportunity through your faith to perform the one you desire.
That doesn't mean He WILL give me my miracle, but it won't stop me from believing He will! And when He does answer me I can KNOW that His answer is BETTER than anything I can request. Hallelujah!

I have a dentist appointment on Thursday. I need a new crown. I am not excited about going, but I know it will only get worse if I don't go. I don't like to think about it because I get a bit nervous, so I'm changing the subject now.

I think we are going to CiCi's for dinner this evening. I will have a salad and probably two slices of pizza. For lunch I had flour tortillas (3 points for two) with pinto beans (1 point for 1/2 cup) and cheese (3 points.) They were yummy. I did my new cardio workout and fumbled through the step aerobics. I rewound it and watched her do that part again. I am hoping in a few more workouts I will be an old pro at it! In the meantime I feel like I'm missing half the workout! I can't wait for my TansFIRMer to get here! I still haven't seen the infomercial and I really want to see Carla on it! She is MY inspiration!

If you can pray for Katie Rose, I'd appreciate it. This is one of my daughter's penpals in California. What a precious little girl. We want to go out and visit her but have not contacted the family about it yet. She is in San Diego so it would be a long trip for Camille and myself.

My friend Mari is sending me clothes! I love free clothes. Better still, these clothes are all from Nordstrom! WooHoo! I have never bought a thing in that store so I feel like a kid in a candy shop. Hopefully they will only fit me through the summer then I will be too small for them. I will certainly pass them on to another grateful soul though. And Mari, if you are reading, I *heart* you!

Have a blessed day everyone.

I got it!

I got my FIRM Body Sculpting System 3 today. The one I bought off eBay. I also ordered BSS4 a few days ago, so I am going FIRM crazy! I really want to see the new infomercial. It aired for the first time this morning on Lifetime, but I missed it. Carla is in it and she is the reason I started doing the FIRM in the first place! She lost 114 pounds doing the FIRM and Weight Watchers. You must take a look at her site. Scroll down for before and after pictures! She was chosen to be one of the testimonials in the new infomercial. She is a Christian and homeschools to boot! I can't wait to use my new FIRM Box tomorrow. I already did my workout today before the mail arrived or I'd do it tonight! I also mowed our lawn today, so I had my exercise for the day. OK, are you completely bored stiff now or what? Isn't is silly how I can get so excited about exercising?

Tonight we are having Smokey Bones for supper. Olaf was craving it, so he will be picking it up for supper after Caleb's baseball pictures tonight. He needs to go to WalMart to pick up a few things as well so we will be eating late for us. Our dinner time is usually between 4:30-5:00 pm, but I doubt he'll be home before 7 pm this evening. I guess the children will go to bed late this evening. Oh yeah, they will because the Little House series is on this evening.

Bloglines is not working for me. It won't let me log in so I 'm not sure what is going on. I have to figure that out. And Penny's blog is completely missing and I've lost the link to Rebekah's blog. So Penny and Rebekah, please leave me links to your blogs!

Off to do...something...maybe nothing at all! Maybe read my "An Encouraging Word" which I need to renew!

Another medical post

My husband went to the doctor today for his chest pain. They are making an appointment for him to go see a cardiologist. They did an EKG in the office and there was a whole host of things "wrong" with it. On the print out it even says it looks like he could have had a heart attack already. Of course, I'm just jello inside. I can't even express how I'm feeling except to say all I want to do is cry. I know that I shouldn't cross those bridges before I get to them, but that is just my flesh taking over. Just pray for Olaf and for me. I need peace, he needs healing!

Naked children

We just got home from Camille's last JMG and my littlest two are running around the house butt naked. Olaf gave them a bath while we were gone and neither one of them want to get dressed. Why do little children like to be naked so much? I have a theory regarding nakedness. Mind you, it is a Misty-ism and not doctrine. However, I kind of believe that when a child notices his nakedness it is his age of accountability. When a child no longer wants to be naked around other people, I think they have realized their sin nature. Think about it, after Adam and Eve sinned they realized they were naked and tried to cover themselves. Go ahead and laugh...but it's my theory and I'm stickin' to it!

We ate at Golden's for supper. I got the usual. Vegetable plate. Cabbage, fried green tomatoes, and sweet potato casserole. Something green, something orange, and something FRIED! I didn't do the FIRM today. I wanted to do the abs and I may when the children go to bed. I am totally and completely 100% SOLD on the FIRM! I have seen incredible results in my fat ole body. Someday there will be a before and after picture on my weight loss blog. I just ordered their newest body sculpting system that isn't even out yet. They offered it to their online community and I took full advantage of it! I won't get it for weeks though. In the meantime I am using BSS1 and loving it! It is hard and I cannot do every exercise correctly, but I get a little better everyday. And just so you know, when this girl hits menopause when there is no chance for babies, I am SO getting a boob job! The whole kit-n-kaboodle. Instead of a 38 LONG I want to be a 38D! However, breastfeeding my babies are more important to me so I will wait and endure these not-so-perky girls for another 10 years.

With that piece of information, I am signing off! And really hoping that my daughter and her friend don't read this entry! ::blushing::

Tachycardia and other medical terms I wish I didn't know

In case you didn't know this about me, I am pretty much qualified to be a lay midwife. There is no doubt in my mind that I could give quality prenatal care, deliver a baby and do an infant assessment. Heck, even a nine year old could do that under normal circumstances. Because I was infertile for so long, I read every piece of literature about the human reproductive system. Then when I decided to have a homebirth, I read every piece of literature (including medical textbooks) about the birth process. In the process of learning all of this wonderful "stuff" I have grown too big for my britches. Now I think I am a doctor (Cheryl, do not tell Schawn) and I readily diagnose my family with ills and such that I *think* they have. Prime example...today. I have noticed on several occasions that Joiah's heart rate seems really high (tachycardia). Last night I took his pulse (with a real stethoscope that was a gift because I wanted to be a real doctor) while he was sleeping and it was 93-100. Today while watching TV it was 120-136. I know toddler numbers are higher than an adult, but the average toddler heart rate is in the 90's. 136 seems a bit excessive to me. I put in a call to my pediatrician and they assured me that 136 isn't too high. So, I guess I will relax a little, but not too much. You know why? I think I know more than most doctor's anyway! I wonder if I could just test to be a doctor and skip medical school? Hmmm...

This morning I went back to bed after Caleb got on the bus. Josiah and I slept until 9:30 am! WOW! That was really nice. The girls got up and were very quiet. I am still sitting in my pj's but Camille did get her school done. I also cleaned up some clutter, dusted, changed sheets (I despise changing sheets on the bunkbeds)and have done several loads of laundry. I need to clean toilets and tubs next.

Tomorrow is Camille's last Junior Master Gardener. She is sad about that because she really enjoyed the program. We will still go out and help with the vegetable garden at the fairgrounds though. Caleb has a baseball game this Friday night, CORRAL on Saturday and baseball pictures Saturday afternoon. Olaf has a doctor's appointment on Thursday because he has had pains in his heart on two different occasions. The kind of pain that makes him clutch his chest. I told him that he HAD to make an appointment. I have never claimed to be a cardiologist, just a midwife;)

The dryer just buzzed notifying me of another bed that needs to be made with clean sheets. Mine! Pray for all of us if you would.

Great News!

Olaf found the carpenter ant nest and killed them! WooHoo! They were behind insulation in our basement above the exterior door. He said it was a fairly large nest and the queen was huge. I chose NOT to go down and look at it. Yuck! We have never seen the ants in our basement though. Only upstairs directly above the nest. They were looking for food, I'm sure.

Today was a nice day. Olaf took Camille and Molly to plant the vegetable garden at the fairgrounds. I stayed home with my boys and we worked on the yard a bit. I also cleaned up the garage a little. Caleb was a big help. He wheeled the wheelbarrow around for me and was very helpful. If I give him specific tasks to do and give him a lot of praise, he is a big help!

I think we are heading down to Callaway Gardens tomorrow if the weather cooperates. We love it down there. It is so relaxing. And the butterfly center has reopened since they did the renovation. That should be fun. Except for Camille. She is afraid of butterflies so she waits for us at the exit while we go in and look at the beauty of God's creation. She has always been afraid of butterflies. She says their wings look evil and scary. Go figure. She'll ride a horse that could easily throw her or stomp on her, but don't let a butterfly come near her!

The children just finished watching the ABC presentation of "Little House" tonight. The Indian in it scared Grace a little so I think she may have a bad dream tonight. We'll see. Oh I can just see you "negative confession" people wincing right now.

Josiah just loves this! I got it at TJ Maxx for $25. He plays with it all day long. We go through a lot of these! He is Thomas crazy!

Donna did something fun on her blog a couple of days ago. She did a virtual tour of products she uses around her home. It was fun. I will do that when I have more free time to look up all that stuff. I did enough of it tonight!:)

Have a great day tomorrow!
Did a little test to see what "denomination" I most agree with. No surprise for me! I picked it up from Donna's blog.

FRIDAY

First off, if you haven't checked out Caleb's Quilt of Love (in the sidebar) please do it. These sweet volunteers make these quilts for children who have any type of special needs. And make sure the volume is up when you view the page. It is very sweet. I sent in a little survey telling them what kinds of things Caleb likes and they wrote a poem for him and put together this "quilt." If you know any child with special needs all you have to do is request a quilt and they will do one for you.

Well, it's Friday. This week has been long for me. Maybe because Caleb was home and I was out of my routine, maybe because I've had a pissy attitude all week, maybe because ???? Who knows? Tomorrow Camille is supposed to go help plant the vegetable garden at the fairgrounds from 1-3. I am thinking maybe Olaf can take her. He would enjoy that more than I would. There is a horse demonstration going on at a local stable tomorrow and we might stop by there for a bit. Ha Ha! For a bit! Another pun I didn't intend! Olaf has to spray for the carpenter ants that are invading our home, that's for sure.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Ruffling feathers

I think this post may ruffle a few feathers, but I'm game! LOL! Game...get it?? Anyway, it is copied from Doug Phillips blog from Vision Forum.

Releasing Sons and Daughters
From a biblical perspective, children (throughout the course of their entire life)remain under the counsel of their godly parents. But they are only under the command of their parents while they remain a member of their father's household and under his protection, provision and oversight.

There is a great deal of overlap in the training of sons and fathers. But the distinctions are crucial. A key distinction between sons and daughters concerns the goals of their preparation and release. The training of sons should focus on preparing them for independent household leadership. To be qualified for marriage sons must demonstrate their ability to leave their fathers, and stand as a capable, independent household leader. Daughters demonstrate the opposite. The training of daughters should focus on their ability to remain under the authority of a household leader. Daughters who are trained, industrious, content, capable and comfortable serving beside their fathers (as they will someday serve beside their husbands)demonstrate that they are ready for marriage.

Under normal conditions, neither sons nor daughters are capable of emancipating themselves. Sons leave "for this cause" when they are released by their fathers to do so. This release may include a time to "prepare their fields" before they build their houses, but the goal is to see our sons established in independent household leadership.

Daughters are "given" by their fathers in marriage. The normative pattern is that daughters remain under the authority, protection and provision of their godly fathers who have as a primary duty of their fatherhood the charge to protect their virginity, prepare them for marriage and someday present them spotless to a groom. Because they are women under the authority, provision, protection and "roof" of their father, they can not independently contract or covenant without the blessing of the head of household.(Numbers 30)

Remembering that sons leave and daughters are "given" in marriage, an important question for modern Christian fathers to ask is this: "How can I give my daughter away, when I have already directed her to leave?"

To put it another way: How do you seriously intend to give away that which you have already released?

True, we can have a healthy debate about just what constitutes a father releasing his daughter into a state of independence. Is it allowing her to pick and choose various experimental romantic relationships? Is it the act of sending her away from home for four years? Is it having her moving to another city and provide for herself?

There should be no real debate that each step of abdication or potential misdirection on the part of modern fathers pushes the women God has entrusted to their care, protection and provision further from the biblical ideal. To the extent that modern Christian girls are trained for independent leadership, they are being trained to be men.

The modern Christian family is double minded and thus unstable in all of its ways. It wants to borrow the feminist vision for training and releasing daughters, while enforcing a code of parental authority which presupposes the principles of biblical patriarchy.

Modern fathers living in a post-Christian, feminized America must make a choice. They can not have it both ways. They can not, on the one hand, release their daughters into a state of manly independence, and on the other hand, demand of them submission to their parental authority. This confusion has resulted in many daughters who are provoked to wrath because they simply don't know where they stand or what is expected of them.

Dad's it's time to love our sons and daughters enough that we will go back to the ancient paths wherein there is hope.
I got my bleaching trays for my teeth yesterday. They gave me expired bleach! I used it last night anyway. I think I can tell a difference in one application. I am calling them this morning to see if I can get some bleach that isn't expired. I think they gave me expired bleach on purpose. If you remember, they said they would match the offer I received from another dentist. At first they said they were going to charge me for the bleach and I told them no way. The other dentist was going to give me 4 tubes of bleach for free. When I picked up the trays yesterday, they gave me 2 tubes of bleach that expired 2-2005. I have a crown appointment scheduled with them that I think I am going to cancel anyway. They are not a preferred provider on our insurance and I can save $150 if I go elsewhere. Did anyone even understand all that rambling?

Today is homeschool choir. I'm not sure how Caleb will do being bored for an hour. He hates not "doing" something. That is why he doesn't like being home. At school he "does" things all day. He has already asked several times this morning to ride the bus and when I answer that he is on Spring Break, he replies with "Papa home." Which means, I really don't want you Mom. I want my Dad. My children call Olaf "Papa." That was his choice when we had children. He always wanted to be called Papa, so he is. It's cute to hear the children say Papa when they are little. Like just learning how to talk. It's a soft whisper as they learn to say that "p" sound. Precious.

I'm getting hungry. I need to eat before I feel ravenous! I think I'll have an english muffin with laughing cow cheese. 4 points I think. Today is my rest day with the FIRM. I may take a walk or do some cardio, but no weights today. I just bought the FIRM System 3 off Ebay. She has never sold anything before, so I'm hoping I don't get rooked. I had to send a cashiers check. The new Firm System is out. I found out yesterday, one day after I bought the old system on Ebay! I guess I wasn't supposed to get the new one yet:)

Need to run...

Did you notice my eyebrows?

I bet you did if you have an eye for fashion. I have the world's bushiest eyebrows. I wax them between my eyes so I don't have a unibrow, but I refuse to "shape" them. I'm not into pain. At all. I wonder what I would look like if I did shape them up a bit? Feedback from the fashion pros please. Also, do I look like someone you know? Maybe an aunt or a friend or your cousin? I seem to have a "familiar" face. Mari just said so in a comment down below. And it isn't the first time. I have been told more times than I can count that I look like someone. I have been told several times that I look like Jamie Lee Curtis. I don't see that at all. (But boy howdy I wish!) I have also been told that I look like Carly Simon. I think it's my big mouth, but I think she's pretty so I take that as a compliment. And once, someone told me I look like Katarina Witt. I'm NOT complaining people. *Ü*

Olaf is moving now. He will be going to work tomorrow. He is still in pain, but at least he can walk. Caleb is on spring break this week and the time change has thrown the schedule off kilter a bit. Josiah is behind me playing with his Thomas set and it's pushing 10:00 pm. I have no idea when he will actually go to bed. And to top it off, I am SO craving chocolate. I want a big old candy bar of some sort. With that being said, I am really going to try to stay on points next week. I have to lose the rest of this weight. I'm half way there and I am not quitting now.

I started the Believing God Bible Study with the Women at Home gals. I think it will be good for me. I even have a blinkie that Becky made!

She is so awesome. I love Becky and I have never met her in person.

It's late and I need to get that child in bed. Many blessings to all of you. And don't forget to post a comment regarding the eyebrows!

Little buses

My son rides the mini bus. You know, the one that kids make fun of. I just came in from getting him safely on the bus and was thinking about how happy he is to see it coming. Caleb loves the bus! He always has. He prefers the BIG bus, but any bus will do. Even the shuttle buses that take you from the Park and Ride to the airport. It is raining this morning so I ran to the bus with him carrying an umbrella over his head. The entire time he was trying to run faster than me and laughing and drooling all the way. Whenever my big guy laughs, drool pours from his mouth. We try to catch it before it happens by saying "close your lips" and sometimes it works. But when he is really laughing, laughing because Mama is trying to beat him to the bus, he drools. And he's loud. He doesn't care that it is 6:40 am. If he is laughing, he is laughing LOUD. I wish I were like that. Finding incredible joy over the littlest things. Like a bus. Or running in the rain.

And yet, his "quality of life" isn't what a doctor would term as "normal." Perhaps we should end his suffering by withholding all food and water. Yes, let's starve him to death. It's the only compassionate thing to do afterall. Certainly you wouldn't want to live like that. He cannot speak, write, read, or care for his personal needs. He will be a burden to society. Yes, let's murder him. That's the most compassionate thing we can do.

Update on the crip

He is still in a lot of pain. The doctor called in a prescription muscle relaxer for him and it has done nothing to alleviate the pain. I, on the other hand, realize just how much my husband does around this house. I shall never complain again. I cannot imagine having a husband that does nothing around the home or help with the children. I really have it good.

I took Caleb to the neurologist. She said everything looked fine and handed me a prescription for his seizure meds. See ya in six months! We hit some traffic coming home. It took us about an hour...maybe a little over. We hit stop and go on I-285, but overall it was a good drive. I didnt get lost and that is always a plus. I really hate driving in the city. I am getting so old. I never could understand why old people didn't like to drive in the city when I was younger. Now I know. Here in GA, the median speed is 80 mph. I was following a sheriff today on the interstate and he was going 85! No joke. If you drive 60 you are really a hazard for going too slow. Here I was in this little Toyota Echo (5 speed) revving out the engine at 80 mph. I could fit under a 18 wheeler in that car. I mean, slide right under it with no problem! However, I get 40 mpg. Ha ha ha!

Tomorrow is National Atheist Day. "The fool says in his heart there is no God." I'm sure there will be much "fooling" on blogs and such. I'm not witty enough for that. I am a horrible liar and have never been able to convince anyone of anything for April Fool's Day! I can't write well enough to pull anything off either. So, I'll just rat out all the other guys!

OK, off to finish my husband's chores.

Husband troubles

Not that kind you silly goose! My husband was wiping Caleb's rear end last night when all of a sudden I hear him scream in pain. Then he calls for me and tells me he cannot move! Literally, he cannot move. His back is completely frozen. He is still in bed and still cannot move. Any suggestions? Has anyone had this happen to them? He does have back problems, but he says this feels completely unrelated to his broken disk in his lower back. This feel like a sharp stinging pain in his mid back and it is completely locked. I don't know what to do. Caleb has a neurologist appointment up in Atlanta this afternoon that Olaf was supposed to take him to. I will take him now but Olaf isn't going to be much good here with the other children either.

On another sucketh note, we have carpenter ants! I despise bugs in my house. That has to be the worse thing for me is to have a little creature invade my home. I killed about 20 carpenter ants this morning in my dining and kitchen areas. I sprayed the doors and windows hoping that will help, but we'll see. If Josiah sees a bug he totally flips out. He screams and runs and climbs up into my arms. He's a wuss boy! (I'm joking! I can hear y'all thinking evil thoughts right now!) I may have to call an exterminator because I do not do well with pests of the insect variety. Olaf will not want to pay money for an exterminator. That is where we differ in our way of thinking about money.

Major thunderstorm just moved through here. Caleb's bus was really early this morning. I guess she wanted to be early in case the weather got worse. Caleb is her first pick-up and last drop off.

I caught up on some blog reading this morning. I was in pure heaven when I read Donna's. Read her day yesterday and tell me if you aren't in heaven too. I will not be jealous, I will not be jealous...

I am waiting to hear from Charity. I hope the doctor could give her some news.

I'll let everyone know how the day progresses with my crippled husband. Should be interesting to say the least. Blessings!

You're not so safe afterall

Angela is kind of snarky. She helped me figure out how to track the IP's that visit my blog. You aren't as invisible as you think you are. And I am not sure what snarky means. I just know the gals at women at home use it a lot.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I went grocery shopping this evening. We were out of all paper products. I mean, down to the last roll or two of toilet paper. Now that is cutting it close. I did well. I spent about $140 for the week and had to buy everything imaginable. I got home in time for The Amazing Race, so that is good. It starts in 20 minutes.

My friend (and graphics queen) Becky has a prayer requst. Her sister, Jennifer, was diagnosed with breast cancer today. Can you please pray for her? She is only 36 years old...younger than me. She sees an oncologist next week. The good news it is a slow growing cancer AND she is a Christian and puts her faith in the One who is able.

Also my dear friend, Charity, is having some crazy ovarian pain. She thinks it may be endometriosis but she isn't sure. Pray for her too. I know they will appreciate the prayers on their behalf to our Father who hears and is merciful to His children.

Blessings to you this evening.

Cleaning, cleaning

I absolutely hate it when blogger does that. I hit publish and the screen times out or I get some funky message. When I hit the back arrow my entire post has disappeared. Oh it sucks so bad.

I cleaned today. I did my bathrooms, cleared clutter on the kitchen counter, ironed Olaf's shirt, and washed sheets. My quota is filled for the week. When Olaf got home he said with a sly grin that he was going to "reward" me for all my hard work. I just played his game and told him that is exactly why I worked so hard today;)

Camille learned how to cross multipy fractions to see if they are equal today. She did math, language arts, spelling, history and JMG and still had it all done by 9:00 am. She never complains about school and accomplishes everything I give her rather quickly. Grace worked on her letters and numbers. She writes her name quite well. She can draw a circle, triangle and square.

OK, I am going to copy this before I hit publish. You never know.

Happy Easter

Or Resurrection Day if you prefer. Whatever you call it the fact remains that our Lord Jesus Christ has risen from the grave. Because He lives, we can live. You can visit the tomb of Buddah, Muhammad, and the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (remember him? In Oregon?) and dig up their bones, but you can't do that with Jesus. He's not there! On the third day He rose again and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Whoever confesses with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in their heart that God has raised Him from the dead shall be saved. Do you believe? I do!

I have to post

just so Constatine smelling his hairy pitts will go down a little. I don't like that to be the first thing you see when you come to my blog. Gross. Ok, why do I even have it posted on my blog? Because it's funny to me!:)

I went to the dentist today. I haven't been in a year and a half. My teeth needed some scraping and then the big news. I need another crown. Half my teeth have crowns, so it really wasn't a big surprise. I didn't want to tell Olaf though because it is going to cost $440 out of pocket. That is one ting about my husband that I really don't like. Telling him that I spent money. He never gets angry on the outside, but he is SO totally angry on the inside. He absolutely hates it that I need a $440 crown, but he'll spend $80 on Ebay for a toy train. I don't get it. Anyway... I also had impressions made of my teeth today because I am getting FREE (yes totally FREE) bleaching done. Another dentist sent me an introductory offer and said if I went to her for my yearly exam, she would give me FREE whitening. So, I called the office and got all the details. I even made an appointment there. Then my ever so clever husband says he will call our current dentist (whom we have seen for 11 years) and ask if they will match it. They did! So, I got to stay at my current office and get free whitening (A $300 value) to boot. I go in for my first appointment for my crown in April sometime.

Josiah is still awake and it's nearing 10:00 pm. This child has got to learn to go to bed earlier. This is killing me!:)

Caleb's first baseball game is this Saturday. The rules have changed though and I am not sure if Caleb is going to enjoy it as much as previous years. You see, whenever Caleb hits the ball it is always a homerun. Even if it just piddles two feet in front of him, he runs ALL the bases and slides into home. Well this year they have decided that these Challenger League kids should "play by the rules." If you are tagged out then you need to immediately leave the field. Three strikes and you're out...along with other "real" rules that mentally challenged children are not going to understand. At least not my mentally challenged child. It really ticks me off that they are implementing these rules to children who just want to hit the ball and run the bases. Most of these children do not have the mental capacity to play real Little League. That is why they are on Challenger Little League. Ay Cavelt. I need to stop here or I'll really start ranting.

Hopefully Constatine is down far enough now that you won't see him first thing!:) Have a great night everyone.

This is for the American Idol fans out there! LOL!
This is definitely NOT thinking on whatsoever things

Something you are not

I don't know about you, but sometimes I wish my blog entries were more thought provoking. Not always on a spiritual level. There are a lot of bloggers who do that well. More of a "Hmmm, that is really interesting" type blog. I have blog envy right now. I'll get over it. I'll accept the fact that the only thing I know how to write about is my everyday life. Not too witty, kind of boring, but it's me.

When I started this blog I really intended to use it for my own personal place of reflection. To throw out all my sin and digest it and work on homeschooling and parenting. It has really turned into a daily journal, although I am not renaming it now. There are things I would never post here knowing that others are reading it. I guess that "stuff" is best reserved for a prayer journal. However, there really isn't a facade with me. What you see is pretty much what you get. I'm not very tactful, mercy is not my strong point, and I can come across rudely. I am also very loyal, determined, and deep down...loving. This makes people either like me, or not like me. There usually is no middle ground. I have fought and fought myself over this issue. I want to be "all things to all people" so Christ is seen in me, but I am realizing that Misty can only change herself so much. He can and does use me just the way I am. If I am an empty vessel, I am still the vessel He created me to be. I can't change the gifts He has given me, but I can change the way I use them. I can't change the fact that I'm an extrovert, but I can change the way I come across. I need to change the things I can and get over the things I cannot. I am Misty. A child of God. A sister in Christ whether you like me or not. And if you don't like me, why are you reading my blog?

OK, it is officially dawn. The sun is up, the school bus has screeched down the street, and the girls are starting to move in their beds. I need to get my day started. No running around today which always makes me happy. Camille will have to "do" school and I have many chores to accomplish.

Blessings to you!

Whatsoever things are lovely...

I am so glad that scripture is on my header for all the world to see. Yesterday I posted a huge rant about my husband and was so convicted, I deleted it just seconds of it being posted. Hopefully no one got to read it.

Camille had riding lessons this morning. I just finished the FIRM CardioSculpt. 55 minutes of pure hades, but so lovely (sigh) when I actually AM firm. I bought three new Firm videos on eBay for $6.00 and can't wait for them to arrive. I am getting bored with the three that I do have. Not because I can do them efficiently, I cannot. And not because they are so easy to do, they are not. It's just that rotating three videos gets a little boring. Even if you are fat and huffing through it to the best of your current ability. My face is red as a tomato. That is what happens to me when I get hot. I don't sweat like normal people (see the 100 things about me) I just turn beet red and look like a fool for the next two hours. Praise God I don't stink though:)

Josiah is napping and the girls are playing outside. It's a nice day. Cloudy and not too warm. I have no idea what to make for supper this evening. It is weigh in night for weight watchers, so I won't be eating before I go. Silly eh? I won't eat supper before I go. I'll probably do something easy like LEFTOVERS! LOL! Or cold cereal. Or hot dogs. Something real healthy!

Becky and Dana, my husband sent your packages today via DHL. You'll have them tomorrow. I mailed out cards to the wah gals today as well. The four that are directly under me. I think it was Mari, Amy, Becky A, and Cheri. Handstamped with lurve....

I need to register for our state homeschool convention. Doug Phillips from Vision Forum is speaking and I can't wait to hear him. It is in the beginning of May. I will buy the girls curriculum there as well. Yes, I use ABeka. It's the easiest for me and I don't want to hear any crap:)

Have a great Monday!

Quick post

Olaf took all of the children to Caleb's riding lesson today so I could do my exercise video. I just wanted to say hello and have a great weekend. Our's looks like it will be fairly cold and cloudy.

Yesterday was a marvelous day. Olaf took the day off and we ate breakfast at Cracker barrel. Then we did some fun stores, like TJ Maxx and Michaels. Oh, and the Dollar Tree! (No stickers there Cheri.) It was just a nice day of being together. I will try to post later on today, but for now...it's the FIRM!

Ciao!

Funny Link

I don't know why I think this website is funny. I guess it's because I love potty humor.

Thankful Thursday

Nattie says to write down five things you are thankful for right now. No thinking, just write! When life gets sucky, ruminate on those things.

1. My husband
2. My children
3. My husband's job
4. My home
5. My friends-both online and in person!

Thanks to Cheri

I am going to the Dollar Tree today. She got some really cool Christian stickers to decorate eggs with. I just have to get everyone ready and go, go, go.

And just FYI, a small Blizzard from DQ is anywhere from 18-20 WW points! I found that out after I ate one yesterday.

I'll update later...

Whatever you do to the least of these....

We did get to go to riding lessons. Thank you Jesus.

Last night I went to a meeting that was all about Medicaid waivers for families with special needs children. I was very disappointed. There are over 5,000 people waiting to get these waivers and only 900 slots in this year's budget. Now, that isn't the part the disappointed me. What really made me angry was these waivers are NOT based on income. (FYI-A waiver is money that the state gives you for things. Like respite care, home modifications for disabled people, diapers etc) I knew a few people there, one of which is a local surgeon, and I am amazed that the state will give these people money when they don't "need" it. Granted, they have special needs children, but give the money to a family that has a special needs child AND is poor. I just don't get it. Caleb has a Medicaid waiver right now. Whatever our insurance won't pay for (like speech therapy, occupational therapy etc) Medicaid will pick up. However, they MUST have a denial from our primary insurance first. When Caleb turns 18 this waiver will end. At that point we need to apply for SSI (Social Security) and as soon as it's approved he will have Medicaid again. That sure is a load off of my mind. I was wondering what we were going to do when Olaf's insurance no longer covered Caleb. Our plan right now is to have Caleb live with us until we die. At that point one of his siblings will have to take over. Or all three of his siblings. They are being prepped already. I truly believe that each child is ordained for their family. God equipped our three children for a ministry to their brother. You can give me all the crap about how that isn't fair for them and yada yada yada. However, I know that whatever is done to the least of these is also done to Him! This may sound horrible, but I really want to out live Caleb. I don't think it will happen, but I'd love for him to be in our care until he passes into glory. I cannot imagine what it will be like in heaven to see my son perfectly healthy. To not have the mental capacity of a four year old. To run up to me and hug me and talk to me. Oh how it convicts my soul. I have been so guilty of just "surviving" as a parent of a mentally retarded child that sometimes I forget he's a little person that needs so much more. When I see him in heaven I'm afraid he'll turn to me and spew out all the hurtful things I've done and said. I know that isn't true, but I can't help feeling like I deserve it.

Well Camille just got up and is probably wondering why I am crying at the keyboard. She hasn't asked though and I really don't want to tell her. She can't even begin to comprehend the complexities of parenting at this point in her little life.

I need another cup of coffee...

It's gonna be a LONG day.

My little Josiah has been awake since about 5:30 am. He is still lying in his bed right now at 6:50. I refuse to get that boy up so early. He is going to be cranky today. I'm not sure if we will go riding this morning or not. There were some pretty strong thunderstorms last night and a chance for more today. Camille will be disappointed.

Yesterday I cleaned a bit while Olaf did the dog. (pics below!) I actually *mopped* the kitchen floor. Can I hear a Hallelujah? I desperately need to wipe down the kitchen cabinets and clean out the fridge. I'd like to tackle the endless piles of crapola that accumulate on every flat surface in my house. Whenever I clean the piles I have no place to put the stuff I really want to keep. I am *that* disorganized. Yes, I know about the Fly Lady. Yes, I have read every Emilie Barnes book. I am getting better actually. I used to be a complete messy. Before we had children, we would let the dishes sit in the sink until we ran out of silverware. YUCK! I cannot imagine doing that now. So, as I have aged, it has gotten better. It's just the piles that keep sneaking up on me. And my husband is one of the best "pilers" I know. We pile the mail, pile grocery receipts, pile coupons, pile manufacturer's booklets for small appliances, pile the pull out from the Barbie we bought...you get the idea.

Caleb just got on the bus. He is so mad now when his normal "small" bus picks him up. There was a time when that bus was broken down and he was riding the big bus. Remember me writing about that? When he saw the small bus pull up this morning he kicked his feet and walked as slowly as possible to the bus. He was muttering the whole way, "No! Big bus." I wanted to run out there and whoop his rear because there were a pile of cars behind his bus waiting for him to board! All weekend long he asked to go to school. We must be a very boring family. It scares me that he likes school so much, but then again, I'm glad that he does. It's a double edged sword for me.

Kate left a comment on my blog yesterday. I don't know her or how she even arrived at my blog, but her little boy (about age four-ish) loves Devo. Remember them from the 80's? There is a photo of him on the blog wearing the red "energy dome" aka weird hat they used to wear. I didn't read much of her blog, so visit at your own risk:0)

Weight Watchers tonight. Big gain. Still. I am going though. When Josiah takes a nap I am going to do the FIRM Cardio Sculpt. 55 minutes of pure torture. Good for the body but hurts like the dickens. My husband maintained this week eating like a hog. Good for him.

Have a great day.

Off to Callaway

I am off to Callaway Gardens today to go bike riding with Camille and Molly. Another part of her birthday present. The weather is lovely today but windy. It's sunny with a high of 65 degrees or so. We will probably ride for a couple of hours and then go eat dinner at Goldens. Golden's fried chicken is Camille's favorite. I have eaten SO much this week. I have been absolutely horrible! Bike riding will be good exercise for me. The birthday cake was SO good and I have eaten more than my fair share! The frosting is made with shortening and it is so yummy. I ate a homemade sausage biscuit this morning as well. Goodness gracious.

Yesterday was really fun. We went to Build A Bear and the girls had a great time stuffing their animals. (pics below) Grace stuffed a bear and it's my favorite. It was also the cheapest!:) She named it Marshmellow. Very cute name for a very cute bear. Camille stuffed a horse and Molly stuffed a cat. I think we will go back in May and let Grace stuff another for her birthday. We ate at Longhorn yesterday and I had the best Black & Bleu burger ever! See, I really have been BAD! It is a grilled half-pound burger dusted with 7 pepper seasoning, then topped with melted bleu cheese.

Alrighty...off to pick up Molly. Have a great weekend!

Hair cut

Tonight I am actually going to a salon to get a hair cut. I haven't been in two years and I still feel guilty for going. I like this one particular lady to cut it and she charges $42. I am going to leave the length long but get a few long layers in it. Just in case I ever wear it down. My hair is in a ponytail 99% of the time because I just don't like to deal with it. I don't like it in my face at all. Maybe I'll post a picture tomorrow.

After the hair cut I will go to Bible Study. I don't even know what chapter we are on. I have finished the book but didn't do the questions. I am not sure what we will do next or even IF we will continue. Tammy said that she wants to stop coming, so I'm not sure what is going to happen.

I walked on the treadmill last night instead of doing the FIRM. I will do the abs video today at naptime.

Tomorrow is Camille's birthday. If you can pop over there and leave a little Happy Birthday comment she would love it! She will be nine years old tomorrow. They grow up so incredibly fast. I need to stamp her a card sometime today. We wrapped her presents last night.

Still lurve my header! Thank you so much Becky.

Oh, I'm hungry already. Not good when it isn't even 8 am and I'm hungry. Laughing Cow cheese, here I come! I can have 2 pieces of wasa bread with light laughing cow cheese for 1.5 points. WooHoo!

Funny Story

It's early Wednesday morning and I wanted to post this story..again. The first time I did it, Blogger dumped it.

Yesterday Josiah was down in the girl's room playing. All of a sudden he started crying hysterically. I ran down there and he was sitting on the floor just screaming. You know the kind of cry that scares you? He was just shaking so I picked him up. I tried to figure out what was wrong, but he was too scared to talk. About an hour later I put him in his crib for a nap. About 10 minutes into my FIRM workout, he starts screaming again. I rush in there and he is pointing. Pointing in the air, pointing at the mattress, pointing at everything. I am totally flipped now because I think my child has a brain tumor or is hallucinating. I calm him down, lay him back down and he falls asleep. Then, as I was making dinner, he starts screaming again in the living room. Olaf runs in to the room and see Josiah standing at the wall with his hands on it. He is bobbing back and forth and screaming like a mad man. Olaf flips for a minute thinking the child is turning autistic. Then he realizes what it is. Josiah is afraid of his shadow! LOL! He just found his shadow and it scares him to death. How cute is that?

Praise God!

I figured out why I can't see my header! It's my firewall! Hallelujah! I tried setting up another blog at xanga and couldn't see the header there either. That made me stop and ponder a moment... I turned off our Norton security and shazaam! The header appeared like magic. I lurve my header Becky! Thank you so much!

New Header

Do you see that lovely new header? Well, I DON'T! Really. You can see it, I cannot. The only reason I know it's there is because Becky told me. Olaf can see it from work, my friend can see it from her computer, but I can't. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Would anyone know why that may be? Remember awhile back when I was complaining that I couldn't change the background? Well, I think I was changing the background but couldn't see it. Whenever I change the template I can't see it. When I just add graphics to the regular template, I see it fine. I just cannot figure it out. And Becky is the one that made my header. She does graphics for a very reasonable price, so if you need anything fun for your blog check her out!

I already lost one huge post, so I am going to stop here. I typed for about half an hour, hit publish and the page timed out on me. FUN! Next time I am going to post a funny story about Josiah...

Our friend

Our friend CMSgt Kurt Scheuler.

Yay!

The weather is holding out so I think we'll be able to go to riding lessons this morning. I am sure Cami will be excited about that. She is just giddy about her birthday this Friday. Did I already post that we are taking her and her best friend to the mall on Friday to do the Build A Bear thing? We have never even ventured in that store before. Who am I fooling? We NEVER go to the mall. It is not a good place to take children in my opinion. The advertising is horrible and in your face.

Yesterday we went to the airport to see our friend from the military. I will post his picture when we get back from riding. It's funny how you can just pick up after 11 years of not seeing someone. It wasn't awkward or anything. I have to admit that I felt a bit awkward because I am so fat now, but that is just my vanity speaking.

And speaking of fat, I am NOT going to Weight Watchers this evening. I do not want to see that gain. I will stick with working out and go next week. Even though I know that gain is from working out, I don't want it in my permanent record! No one is going to write in my official weight watcher book +3 pounds! Nope! Not gonna have it.

I went grocery shopping yesterday per usual. Brought home a lot of frozen food because it was on sale and I had the good ole coupon. As I was unloading my cart of Lean Cuisine and frozen pizzas, the lady behind me said "you cook like I do!" Hey, Lean Cuisine was 40% off then I had coupons...what a great lunch!

Cheri explained bloglines to me and I love it. If you are a hip blogger, you'll know all about it. If not, check it out. It really is a time saver. Now I am notified if someone updates their blog. I don't have to visit each site to see. Way. too. cool.

To my dear husband...I love you! I know what you're thinking!

Girls are up and I need to start the day!

CORRAL

CORRAL starts today for Caleb. He is terribly excited about it. It runs for 6 months I think. The bad thing is some of his baseball games are on Saturday this year. He will have to miss those games in order to ride. Baseball starts at the end of this month and then we will be busy, busy, busy.

I am bummed right now about my weight loss. I have done The Firm for four days in a row and have GAINED three pounds. Now, I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but I still hate seeing the scale go up. I have taken my measurements and plan on doing The Firm for another two weeks. If my measurements are going down, but the scale is not...then I will stick with it. If not, then honey...The Firm is going in the garbage! Allie and all her perfect body friends will be on Ebay as fast as you can say Fanny Lifter! If Olaf takes all the children to CORRAL, I will be able to do the abs workout today. It's only 25 minutes.

The weather is gorgeous today. I don't know the forecast, but right now it is sunny and about 60 degrees. Too nice to be inside. I haven't jogged in forever, so perhaps I'll get out and do that today.

Camille's birthday is next Friday. She is excited as can be. I would write what I bought her, but she reads my blog!

Have a great weekend everyone...

Goldens for supper

The Bible Study ladies are meeting at Goldens for supper tonight. I ate there last night, but that's OK with me. I love it. It's southern food at it's best. I will get the vegetable plate. Turnip greens (which I smother in tabasco sauce), fried squash, and sweet potato casserole. I also have two tiny muffin size corn breads to slurp up the juice of my greens. Wash it down with a Diet Coke and I'm a happy girl!:)

I did my third Firm workout today. I really hope I do see those "visible results in 10 workouts." I have the series with the fanny lifter (which they only sell at stores like Target now). I can't get through any of the tapes without stopping or modifying the exercises somehow. My abs are in terrible shape. Oh my!

Olaf has lost 16 pounds now. I actually bought him some smaller jeans today at Kohls. I am so proud of him. He wants to lose 20 more pounds and get down to 180. I think that is a good weight for 6 feet tall. Speaking of Kohls, I bought a comforter set at Kohls for $4 today. I couldn't believe it. It is so awesome to find deals like that.

Josiah has stopped pooping on the potty. I'm bummed. He has pooped in his diaper the past three times. He is talking so well for just turning two. It's amazing to hear him. He likes to sing the songs from "Barbie, Princess and the Pauper." Too cute!

I need to go iron my husband a shirt before I leave to eat. Leave a comment so I know you've been here. C'mon...I'm begging here!

The busy running around day

Today is choir and JMG with Camille, so it's one of those busy days. I updated my weight loss blog. I am really excited about losing weight again. That is always a good thing.

Yesterday Camille kept complaining that her back was itchy, so I kept scratching it on top of her shirt. Well Olaf gets home from work and gives Cami a kiss and feels something on her back. He lifted up her shirt and right there, in the middle of her back, was a blood sucking tick! Yuck! I am quite certain the cats brought them in. They are always laying on the girls' bed. It wasn't a deer tick, the one that carries lymes disease. It was the regular dog tick. The nasty big ones that take a chunk of skin with them when you pull them out.

If you read my blog and take my prayer requests seriously, can you pray for my friend Cheryl today? She has had some serious sicknesses hit her and her family and she is quite certain it is a spiritual attack.

Off to start my very busy day.

My ear!

I keep getting these strange shooting pains into my head right above my right ear. It hurts and they won't go away. It feels like an electric shock.

My husband reformatted the hard drive last night. He wanted to buy a new computer but I talked him out of it. We don't have the money for a new computer, but my husband is not the best at handling finances. He's a great guy and I love him to pieces, but his one fault is finances. He will pinch a penny but throw bills out the window. I cut coupons and try to stretch that grocery budget as far as it will go and he wants to buy a new computer. Or a new washer and dryer. (He says that's for me but I think he just wants to spend money we don't have!) I handed over the finances long ago when I just couldn't bare the stress of it anymore. I basically stick my head in the mud now and don't have a clue as to our financial situation. It's just easier on me to be that way. You may call that stupid, but I call it keeping my sanity. He gives me cash for groceries, gasoline, and Cami's riding lessons. He takes care of the rest. And I must say, we've never been late on a bill, so he must be doing something right. And please pray for him. He desperately wants this job that opened up with the FAA. He plans on going there tomorrow to try to see the woman in charge of hiring for this particular job. The problem is, it's not open to non-government employees. But he feels strongly that this is the perfect job for him so he's going to try anyway! Pray that the Lord will have His way, but also that Olaf would get the desire of his heart.

A friend of ours from the military (ions ago!) came through Atlanta and had a lay over on Thursday. Olaf went to the airport to visit with him for awhile. Our whole family plans on going to see him next Sunday when he has another layover on his flight back. I haven't seen him for 10 years. He and his wife were our good friends when we were stationed at George AFB in Victorville, CA. He was just a Staff Sergeant then and now he's a Chief Master Sergeant. That was a lifetime ago for us.

Camille is doing school right now. Riding lessons were cancelled again due to the rain. She hasn't ridden for three weeks now. Poor girl. She loves riding. I am pilfering her riding lesson money for Weight Watchers though, so that's good for me. BAD MAMA! I don't have the $99 to buy the coupons, so I am going to have to pay the $12 weekly fee. I weigh in this evening at my new meeting. That should be fun to have a new leader and be with all new people. I like change. I'm weird. I think it's because no one knows me and it's a fresh start. I'm an actor at heart.

Off to be a Mama now. Blessings!

Warning

Do not go to the circus with a mentally challenged child that has sensory problems! As soon as it started, he was ready to go. It was just too much all at once for Caleb to handle. We stayed for half of it (just for Cami's sake) and went to eat at CiCi's afterward. When we got home from the circus he immediately wanted to get on the bus and go to school. He is mad that it's the weekend now and we wasted a perfectly good school day. Go figure.

Olaf started antibiotics yesterday. I hope he starts to feel better soon. He is coughing really hard and he has asthma, so it's doubly tough for him. He has no voice and whispers everything. Which is really funny when he is yelling at the children in a complete whisper. They don't take him seriously:)

Josiah still has nasty congestion. It's so bad he cannot breathe through his nose at night. Which makes for not very good sleep. Which makes for a cranky baby during the day. Which makes for a cranky Mama as well. I haven't been sleeping well at night either. I have never taken a sleeping pill, but I am so tempted. I would love 6 or 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Charity's shower was lovely. I forgot the digital camera, so I cannot post any photos. Her Mom was so sweet to me. She brought me Moxie from Maine which is just the most awful stuff you can ever drink. (I asked for it though because I just HAD to try it!) She also gave me a mesh bag full of picnic supplies. She is very sweet. Oh, I forgot to post why she gave me those things. We gave her a buddy pass to fly down here from Maine so she could see baby Grace and the family. Saved her about $100 but flying standby sucks.

When I get to my goal weight I am buying an outfit at Talbots. Just one.

I'm actually feeling better

However, Olaf is not. He is making an apoointment for the doctor after the circus tomorrow. Poor guy. He says he's cold and then sweats under all the blankets and still insists that he's cold. The children seem to be better although Josiah is still pretty inactive. He is content to watch video after video. Or should I say, the same video over and over and over. Thomas the Tank Engine....

Tonight is Charity's baby shower. I think I am well enough to go. I haven't coughed for the past two nights and am coughing much less during the day. I need to make her a card though.

I haven't had breakfast yet and it's almost lunchtime. I did eat some m&m's though. What a great food choice. I do hope I lost some weight this week. I will be going to my new WW meeting this Monday. I'll update my weight loss blog then and let you know how it was.

Tomorrow is the circus. Caleb is already saying he doesn't want to go. I have a feeling that Olaf will be sitting in the van the entire time with Caleb while the rest of us sit in the handicapped section and watch the circus. That makes me feel so awkward when our "handicapped" son isn't with us when we are in the handicapped section. I feel like I'm cheating somehow.

For supper I am making easy salsbury steak. It is SO easy to make and everyone ate it last time. I'm just hoping the ground beef thaws in time. We eat supper early. By 5:00 pm every night. I just took the ground beef out about an hour ago. I don't like to thaw things in the microwave.

I am really hungry, so I am going to go scrounge for food. Camille wants to update her blog as well. If you can leave her a comment she'd love it. Cami's blog

Absolutely must say this...

Please pray for Terri Schiavo. She will be executed very soon if her husband has his way. Please please pray. Here is a great post about her.

sniffing...

It seems like all I do is sniff, sniff, sniff. Or blow, blow, blow. My head is pounding with a sinus headache and I'm still coughing pretty bad. My poor children are still congested and Camille's ear still hurts. She is doing school today though. We are behind and I don't like that feeling of being behind. I have always been a first place kind of gal. You know, I must win...I must be the best...I must get an 'A'...I must, I must, I must.... I am learning that not everyone has this compulsion to be the best though. I don't understand WHY someone wouldn't want to do their very best, but I am seeing that it is so. I admit it. It drives me crazy. Don't write sloppy when you can take a little longer and write nicely. Don't settle for missing two problems on your math page when you could have gotten them all right if you would have checked it first. Get my drift??? Yes, you're right. I can be a bear to live with when I expect perfection. I am learning. Not fast enough for my liking, but I'm learning. And it is killing me. Which is precisely what the Lord wants. The death of ME.

Olaf is going to take Sage, our 17 year old cat, to the vet this week to put him down. He's deaf, mostly blind and just plain ole old. He lives down in our basement and gets no attention except once a day when we go do the litter box and feed him. It's time. It will be sad because we've had him since we were first married, but all things must come to an end.

We are going to the Ringley Brothers Circus on Friday morning. We will keep Caleb out of school and go. We have these vouchers so the tickets will cost $5 each instead of $12. Grace and Josiah have never been to the circus, so it should be fun. I hope everyone is well enough to go.

I need to start exercising again. I want to start doing "The Firm" videos that I bought eons ago. I was motivated by Carla! WOW! If she can get her ex-fat body looking that good, then I can too! My Firm videos are still in shrink wrap if that tells you anything.

Need to go make lunch for the children. Have a great day!

And the beat goes on

The beat goes on, the beat goes on
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de dee, la de da de da

Yes, I'm still sick. Yes, everyone is still sick. And the beat goes on...la de da de dee.

It is Sunday evening. I ran out to Publix this afternoon to pick up a few things. I stopped by Blockbuster and got The Little Bear Movie for the children. They love Little Bear. I forgot to pick up cold medicine though so I guess I'll be sippin' Grace's cough medicine this evening. Nothing like a little hydrocodone to put one in a happy mood.

Our next door neighbors are moving out this weekend. I am praying for Christians to buy the house. Our driveways are really close together and we need good neighbors. The current neighbors were leasing the home and the owners, who live in DC, decided they wanted to sell it now. They were good neighbors. Pagans, but good neighbors!:)

Charity's baby shower is this Thursday and I have been working on some baby shower games today. I think I am just going to do two paper games. You know, where you have to write out the answers to questions. The church showers usually have quite a few people, and I don't want the games to take too long. Two hours for a baby shower is more than a plenty if you ask me. Can you tell I'm not a party person? Unless of course, the party is for MOI! LOL! Just joking...Maybe I'll take a few digital pics at the shower and post them here. One of Charity and one of baby Grace.

Olaf told me again today that he wants another baby. Like I can just snap my fingers and conceive! Maybe the Lord will bless us this year with another baby. If not I hope Olaf can be content with the four we do have. I would love another baby as well, but I have learned not to get my hopes up. I can't do that emotional roller coaster. It kills me every month if I get my hopes up. There is no chance that we conceived this month. We were sick during ovulation!

Have a great night!

Poor Josiah!

He woke up this morning with his eye caked shut with goop. I held a warm washcloth on it as best I could as he tried to wriggle away. His nose is still nasty and the poor little guy coughs all night. Grace seems to be better this morning though. I took Camille to the doctor yesterday and she has an ear infection. She started antibiotics yesterday as well. My pharmacist friend gave me a prescription for an antibiotic as well. I need it. I don't think I could get over this without one. I'm not a person that thinks antibiotics is the cure all, but in this case I really believe I needed one. Hopefully, we are on the tail end of this. Please Lord...

We have nothing planned for the weekend since we are all still so flippin' sick.

Olaf has Monday off for President's Day. Gotta love that! I guess one of us will take Cami to her riding lesson that day. Or perhaps the entire family will go and then we will head to Costco afterward. Costco has these awesome Chicken Sausages made by Amy's. They have no preservatives, no nitrates, and are only 2 points each. Let me see if I can find them online. Hang on... Here it is. Costco carries the Andouille type. They are very tasty. With a bun it's only 4 points! And they are rather large so one is enough for lunch.

Alright...off to start the day with the family. Have a great weekend everyone!

Weigh In

I weighed in and did AWESOME! Check it out!

Sickness Updates

Oh I am so tired of this...

Camille is getting worse. He right ear hurts and her right eye is now weeping green stuff. I'll probably take her to the doctor tomorrow.

Grace still has a fever. Her eye is swollen and weeping green goo. Took her and Josiah to the doctor yesterday and they are both on antibiotics. Her nose runs non-stop and her face is red from where it is constantly being wiped. When not on Motrin she is very whiny as you can imagine.

Josiah's lungs are wheezing. This morning his nose is running worse than it had previously. He woke up with blood and boogers caking his nose and upper lip. There was blood in his crib along with something I cannot even describe. Gross. I think he has a temp this morning as well.

When I got up this morning, Caleb was vomiting in the bathroom. He has not eaten anything this morning and is acting pretty sick. This must be something different that he brought home from school. Looks like we'll all have the stomache virus on top of this other junk.

I am feeling horrible. Still coughing like mad and always feeling a bit woozy. It's hard to take care of everyone when I feel like I want to crawl into bed myself.

Olaf is still sick but at work none-the-less. He comes home from work grumpy and tired as well. Please pray for us. It's been a very tiring week.

I'm back

Not that you were waiting with baited breath for me to return. Let's see...Olaf got sick Sunday afternoon and called in sick on Monday and today. Grace and Josiah look like they have been hit with baseball bats. Their eyes have dark circles under them, their little noses are running, they are coughing and Grace has a fever. I am on the mend praise God, but this virus really kicks you in the rear! I probably won't be on the computer much this week because I'll be taking care of the little ones. Olaf has to go to work tomorrow because he is scheduled for training that he has to have. I know he won't feel like it. He's going to be cold and achey. I know because I had to go out grocery shopping on Sunday and I about died!:) Honestly, I was pushing my cart through Kroger almost crying. People were looking at me with pity. I didn't want to return their polite look for fear I'd break down right there and make a complete fool of myself. The good news of having a virus is I lost about 4 pounds this week! WooHoo! Olaf lost 8 pounds. Who needs Weight Watchers? Let's all get sick instead! NOT!

Did I post that my WW meeting got cancelled because there wasn't enough people going? Now I have to weigh in this Thursday and pick up my "card" that will travel with me to a new facility that does have a Monday meeting. I like Monday meetings. I'm not sure how I'll afford to keep going once these two coupons are done, but hopefully I can figure something out.

Tomorrow is cookie dough delivery day and guess who is supposed to be there sorting everyone's orders? That'd be me. Am I going? No way. I cannot take these sick little children out. I have asked someone else to handle it for me and hopefully, prayerfully, it will all work out! I know the Lord is working on me. I am a CONTROL FREAK and to count on someone else to sort the orders is about killing me. I know they'll screw it up and somehow it will get blamed on me. Like I didn't order enough, or we were short due to a mistake I made. I cannot stand being blamed for a mistake I didn't make. The Lord is just saying, "Chill homie!"

Thanks for all the well wishes! I would still covet your prayers for my family. Much love to you all!

I'm sick

It started yesterday and continues today. I have been laying in the bed all day and will post Monday. In the meantime you must check out Molly's Blog and read the comments on the post about being a homemaker. I'll catch you all on Monday!

A little of this...a little of that.

Camille is sick today. She has a bit of a cough and has lost her voice. She says her throat hurts as well. No fever though, so it just must be a bronchial thing. She is excited because I am going to let her watch Little House on the Prairie today. She is reading the series of books, but she has never watched the TV show. I found it plays on the Hallmark Channel from 10 am -12 pm Monday through Friday. I guess I'll be kind and not "do" school today.

I'm so in love with my husband it's almost gross. Last night I got angry with him because Caleb's teeth are CAKED with plaque and it's Olaf's job to brush his teeth! I tried to stay mad at him for longer than 5 minutes, but I couldn't. My flesh just could not prevail! LOL! If all I have to complain about is plaque on teeth, then I just need to shut up. Honestly though, I have a husband that really does "get it." You know how some women say their husbands just don't "get it?" Well, mine really does get it. Or at least I think he does. Maybe that's it! Maybe it's all perception. Maybe if you were looking in on my life you'd see his faults. All I see is the most wonderful, handsome, loving man on the face of this earth. His faults are there, though minor...not magnified. And try as I might, I can't stay mad at the man. I just love him too much.

Grace and Josiah are down in the girls bedroom playing with Thomas the Tank Engine. Grace is trying to help Josiah put it back on the track and he is throwing a dilly of a fit because he thinks she is taking it away. Grace just said, "OK Josahhh (that's how she says his name)I was trying to help you but now I'm not. You figure it out!" She sounds JUST LIKE ME! I don't put up with that stuff very well myself. I'm more of the "Get over it and get on with it" kind of mom. I really need to watch myself and see what needs in the children I am not meeting because of my predisposition to that ideal. Especially Camille. She needs hugs and love and snuggles. I'm not too good at that when they get bigger. I love to snuggle on babies and toddlers, but once they hit about 5...I'm kind of stand offish. I'm not sure why. Camille is almost 9 years old, VERY tall, weighs about 105 pounds and wears a size womens 8 shoe! Just something about a child being that big and hugging on them is not right to me. Sure I give her a kiss goodnight and hug her often, but to snuggle on the couch or bed gives me the willies. Maybe I was molested as a child and don't remember it or something. What do y'all think? Could it just be my personality? I'm not a hugger in a group of women either. When I go to Bible Study people hug me and that makes me a bit uncomfortable as well. Now, if I see someone I haven't seen in a long time...I LOVE TO HUG! But on a weekly basis? No thanks! Wow! Where did all this rambling come from? It must be my therapy session:)

So tired...

We stayed up until 11:00 watching the finale of "The Amazing Race." We didn't get to bed until 11:45 and I am dragging this morning. I may have to go back to bed with Josiah once Caleb gets on the bus. I could never be on that show. I get way too nervous. It would be fun though. Last night they had to skydive and I told Olaf that we would lose right there. No way that I would jump out of a plane. Ever.

I have to keep on top of getting school done. We have done great this week, but it's only Wednesday. If we concentrate on Math, Language Arts, and Spelling, then to me...that's a full school day. We do need to work on cursive.

< 2 hours later>

I did try to go back to bed with Josiah, but he woke up 10 minutes after I fell asleep. He kept kicking me and saying "Out Mama!" I was SO pooped, I put in a Thomas video and asked Camille to watch the littles for a half an hour. I went back to bed and slept. Everyone is eating their breakfast right now and I have a cup of coffee in me. I'm feeling better. I just ate a Weetabix for breakfast. Only ONE point if you eat it alone. I like 'em.

I am thinking of trying to design a website. Becky suggested it to me but I feel so overwhelmed. When I learn FrontPage I think I'll take the plunge! April at Northwood Cabin Hosting is so nice. She has patiently answered questions in much detail. And her rates are very reasonable. $10/yr for a website. I'm impressed. If anyone knows how to use FrontPage and wants to help me, please let me know. I'd love to be able to call someone and get a live tutorial. Oh please!!!!

It's rainy here today. We have to go to choir, but that is the only place I need to run to today. I did not go grocery shopping this week and I still have enough food in the house for meals this week. Woo Hoo! I will need to go this weekend though. I also need to get the rest of this website together. Maybe I can do that today. Before Olaf gets home. OK, here I go...

Wipe Out!

I totally wiped out my old template. Forgive me if there are no linkies to my blinkies yet!:) I am slowly but surely trying to get it all together. I am SO mad that I cannot change the background on this template. Just imagine, if you will, instead of these pink sidebars you see cutest pattern of geraniums. Ah, it looks darling in the preview. Then I hit "republish" and it shows up white. No background at all. I have NO clue what I am doing wrong. Why oh why does it show up in the preview and not when I publish? Anyhoo, I am still working on it and maybe one day will have something other than pink sidebars!

I went to Ladies of Grace tonight at church. There was a man there from a Jewish Ministry who taught on the book of Esther and Purim. He is from Massapequa, Long Island. That is where I lived on Long Island. I held baby Grace and put her to sleep. That was precious. I have to say that I really love the ladies of that church.

I went to Weight Watchers and gained a pound. Not bad for two weeks worth of not counting points! I know I'll lose this week because Olaf is asking me the point value of everything he puts in his mouth! He still has points to spare this evening. I don't think I have EVER had points to spare. If I get 24 points, I'm eating 24 points!

I need to run because it's late. Olaf hates it when I'm on the computer. He gets jealous.

Superbowl Sunday

It's playing behind me. I don't watch football, but I'd like to see the Patriots win. You know why? I like their helmets better!

We visited Grace Community Church today. It's the church where I go to Bible Study. Everyone knows me so we didn't get the "visitor" treatment. The children stayed in the service with us and did well. Grace and Josiah colored and Caleb sat nicely through the service. It only lasted an hour, so that is great for our family. Pastor Carl taught on the qualifications for elders and deacons because they are accepting nominations for those positions. It was good. Carl has a servants heart and that comes through in his teaching. The congregation is so mixed. It's really neat to see very old people, very young people, families with many children, some women who covered their heads etc. There were no black people there though...except for Caleb. The sevice is fairly formal which is weird for us. We are used to praise music and wearing jeans to church. That wouldn't be the norm in this church. The music was hymns or praise choruses sung to tracks of music. I do like the fact that most people in the church homeschool. Most women believe it's their delight to stay at home and take care of their families. That is so refreshing.

After lunch we went to Target so I could pick up some Valentine candy. Hershey's puts out kisses that are white chocolate/strawberry creme at Valentines. They are tasty. They have little hearts on the wrapper. Very cute.

I weigh in tomorrow. I have no idea what I weigh. I haven't paid much attention to my diet the past two weeks. Olaf is starting WW with me tomorrow, so I think I will be able to lose faster now. It always helps to have the husband trying to lose weight as well. I'm sure he'll surpass me in pounds lost in a very short period of time. Men can lose weight faster for some reason.

We went to Callaway today. We loaded up the children's bikes and were on our merry way. We got to the bike rental place so Olaf and I could get our bikes, and it was closed. There was a sign that said they were clearing the bike trails due to the ice storm last weekend. Caleb was so mad he started crying. We were all looking forward to riding and everyone was disappointed. So, we walked the trail instead. And you know what? Not one tree limb was on the bike trail that we walked on! We took a picnic lunch and had a decent time anyway. After Caleb stopped crying that is...

Olaf and I tried to cut Josiah's hair this evening. Poor child. That's all I got to say about that. (in your best Forrest Gump impersonation.)

I talked with an old friend this evening. I went to high school with her and she lives out in California. She has had a rough couple of months and really needs to be lifted up in prayer. If you could please pray for Sandy, I'd appreciate it. The Lord knows what is going on more than I do, but she is having a hard time mentally and emotionally. Pray that God would be so real to her that she could KNOW He's there.

Once again I have to guide you to Molly's Blog. Let me tell you something, this woman has got a great head on her shoulders!:) She is able to convey truth in a straight forward way and not make me think she is holier than anyone else. Be sure to go to the two links in her blog as well. Maybe I should just stop writing altogether and put a link everyday to Molly.

Since I am completely boring, I'll sign off now. Have a blessed Sunday.

Love Fridays!

Fridays are my favorite day of the week. It means my family will be together for the next two days. I love that. It just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I think the weather is supposed to be nice, so we may head down to Callaway Gardens.

Caleb has a sub bus driver again today. He is waiting outside right now. He doesn't want to come back in. He LOVES the bus. He especially loves it if there is a sub and he rides the regular size bus! His normal bus is the mini bus...you know, the one you made fun of in school. He gets so excited every morning and asks at least 100 times, "Mama, bus?" Yes son, you get on the bus every morning. You'll get on it today too! He asks for the bus every weekend too. And for about the first month of summer vacation. Since he has a sub today, the bus is running very late. I keep checking on Caleb and he is looking his wrist with no watch on it, tapping it...like "Where is this bus?" (time lapse) Just got Caleb on the bus and it was a big one! He gets this incredible smile on his face and runs straight to it. I don't like the fact that Caleb is non verbal and cannot tell me what happens on the bus, or at school... that scares me a bit. There is an old man that his the assistant on Caleb's bus and I haven't made up my mind whether I trust him or not. He seems kind of crotchety. He's about 80 years old and not the nicest old man if you know what I mean. It goes against everything within me to send him to school in a bus, but he loves it so much and it is so much easier on the rest of the family, that I let him go.

I went to Bible Study last night and got to hold baby Grace. My husband has baby fever worse than I do right now. He's getting the children in on it as well. He asks Josiah all the time, "Do you want a baby brother or sister?" To which Josiah replies, "sitter." I wish it were that easy for us to conceive, but it never has been. You know I want to do this Breast Cancer Walk but am fearful to register in case I do become pregnant. Then what?

Camille is getting to be such a young lady. It's scary. I go in her room to check on her at night and see that big body in that little twin bed (top bunk). She could be married in 9 more years. I'm just not ready for that! So, I'll enjoy today and not think about the future. That's what we are called to do, right? She is such a blessing though. She helps me so much with the children and the chores. She desires nothing more than to be a wife and mother. I hope that attitude stays with her forever. I long to see her fulfilling her role 100 times better than I have done. Can you imagine the legacy that can be left behind if our children all have several children who serve and love the Lord? Like Molly said a couple of days back, we could take over the world!

I need to go read your blogs now. At least a few before the children get up. Oh, and check out this new sig tag that Becky made for me! Isn't is great???

Quick Update

It's Wednesday night. I feel like I have been running all day and not really going anywhere. Ever feel like that?

First of all, I had major vertigo this morning. I was walking around like a drunk. I didn't think I could drive Camille to choir so I asked Olaf to come home and take us. I had to go because the fundraiser was to be turned in today. During choir I sat there and reconciled all the orders that people gave me. There are still stragglers that will be turning in orders next week even though I CALLED everyone on Tuesday and reminded them to bring their fundraisers to choir! Can you say incompetent? Anyway, the next few days will be spent entering that into a spreadsheet and reconciling money and yada yada yada. You really don't care...I'm sure.

Then I took Camille to Junior Master Gardeners tonight. Their group was chosen to be the NATIONAL JMG Group for the month of February. Check it out. She is in the back row smack dab in the middle. You know, the really cute one! She enjoys JMG and we are counting it as our science this year. As always, we go out to dinner after JMG. It's nice for just the two of us to be together.

Then we got home and Olaf was doing a disk defrag on the computer. We haven't done a defrag in FOREVER. It took three hours to defrag this baby. So here it is late, I needed to update this blog, and I have a ton of things left to do. Well, not a ton, but you know how I like to exaggerate... I hope to read all of your blogs tomorrow. I haven't had the time to do it today.

Please come out of lurkdome and leave a comment or tag. I am SO in blog envy when I visit Jenn's blog with 18 comments! What's up with that???

Pink eye and green snot

I picked up Caleb from school yesterday morning. The nurse said it looks like he has pink eye. I started drops yesterday as soon as we got home and they don't look any better. I am thinking it must be his sinuses draining through his eyes. He has always had different symptoms than my other children when they are sick. I guess it's because he's biologically not mine and he has special needs. He is home from school today and if his eyes don't look better by this afternoon I will make a doctor appointment for tomorrow. He is acting completely fine. Eating like a moose. No fever, no lethargy...just pink eyes and green snot!:) And let me take a moment to defend myself for putting Caleb in public school...I have no defense! To be quite honest, I am not mature enough in the Lord to homeschool him. There, I said it. Having a mentally challenged child is a blessing but also a lot of hard work. He needs speech therapy and occupational therapy which he currently gets at school. I don't have the time or resources to either do the therapy myself with him, or drive him to private therapy with my three other children. Face it, I'm just not "there" yet. I may never be. You can just pray for me and maybe, just maybe, I'll homeschool him eventually.

If you get a chance, please read Dana today. She has written a lovely tribute to the astronauts lost in the Columbia disaster. We need to be reminded. Speaking of Dana, I received my packet for The Three Day Breast Cancer Walk yesterday. I really want to do it. I have to raise $2,100 in order to participate. After I register they will set up a website for people to make online donations. I have no doubt that I can raise that much. I would set my goal for $5,000. I would walk in memory of my mother-in-law, Ingrid Jorek. She lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 50. I would walk in honor of Dana who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 23 and is a survivor. I would walk for my daughters who should never have to worry about breast cancer at all. Check out the link and let me know what you think. If I do register there will be links galore to donate online, so be prepared! LOL!

I need to get off this computer and be a Mama. Not to mention that I'm in my pj's and the only chore I've done is washing my bed sheets!:)
